On any single night in 2017, close to 554,000 people were experiencing homelessness in the United States. New York City’s homeless population is the largest in the nation with over 63,000 men, women and children sleeping in shelters every night, plus thousands more that are unsheltered, leaving the city in the midst of the worst crisis of homelessness since the Great Depression.
